Bee For Battens is pleased to announce that it is providing full financial support to send Battens Disease sufferer Amelia Ryczan and her family to New York to undergo assessment to see if she will qualify to participate in a medical treatment trial.
The assessment which will be held at the Weill Cornell Facility on New York on the 14th and 15th of April, will measure Amelia's progression of the disorder and to see if she will meet the strict criteria to possible undergo the treatment as early as June of 2011.
Amelia who was born in Drogheda and lives in Carrickmacross in Monaghan, will become 4 on the 22nd of April will travel to the US with her mother Tamara will be also accompanied by a nruse for the duration of the trip to the US.
Bee For Battens is increasing its fundraising campaign at the moment to fund the trip for treatment of Amelia, who may become the second Irish child to be accepted onto the treatment trial after Liam Heffernan , aged two, from Kerry who was accepted to last month to receive the treatment in early May!
